Photo of Julie Bossé, owner of NewU Physio

Born and raised in Orléans, Julie was a competitive ringette player throughout her youth, attending Nationals 6 times, and enjoyed various sports: tennis, volleyball, soccer, hockey, etc. She now enjoys running half marathons and varies her physical activity (yoga, Pilates, weight training, HIIT) to keep things interesting.

Julie Bossé graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa in 2006 with a Bachelor of sciences in physiotherapy. She was the recipient of the prestigious Rector's scholarship throughout her studies. She also won the Sheila Muir Webb Memorial Book Prize for the highest performance in clinical affiliations of the 4th year program and the Ottawa University Silver Medal for the second-highest standing in the Physiotherapy program. She worked as a physiotherapist in the Orléans area for about four years (sports and orthopaedics) before shifting her focus to two other areas of expertise: the head, neck and jaw and vestibular rehabilitation.  At that time, she moved to the Head, Neck and Jaw Physiotherapy clinic to further her skills and knowledge in that area for the past 9 years. Being native from Orléans, Julie decided to open her own physiotherapy clinic in 2019 in a multidisciplinary setting with the goal of providing quality care to the Orléans area population and its suburbs.

Clinically speaking, Julie has always been a very driven and compassionate physiotherapist. She has completed extensive training over the years in various domains: Vestibular Rehabilitation, TMJ Disorders, Concussions, Dentistry, Cranial Osteopathy, Cranial Nerves Neurodynamics, Cranial Manual Therapy, Butler Neurodynamics, Myofascial Release, CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Prevention of Running Injuries, etc. She also completed her Certificate (level 1) in acupuncture with the Acupuncture Foundation Institute of Canada. In 2017, she completed her Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy: Level 3 Upper Quadrant and will be looking to pursue her training in this field in the coming years while pursuing her studies in the CRAFTA Education Program in Temporomandibular and Craniofacial Dysfunction and Pain. Recently, Julie was an assistant teacher in 2 laboratory sessions, and she hopes to continue accumulating more teaching experience over the next few years.

Simply put, Julie has a hands-on approach and tailors each treatment to her individual patient's needs. She strives to empower each patient to help them reach their goals.

Charles
Charles Headshot 2019_edited.png

Charles was born and raised in Iroquois Falls located in Northeastern Ontario. At the age of 13, Charles obtained his Chief Scout award. This meant a great deal to him as his father was a longtime Scoutmaster and Gillwellian. Charles strongly believes that we should all ‘leave every campsite better than we found it’. These childhood experiences instilled fundamental values in Charles as he grew up, which led family, outdoor activities, and food to be what he believes nourishes his soul. He has always considered himself to be an athlete primarily focusing on judo, a modern Japanese martial art, and volleyball. He was also a competitive volleyball coach for 10 years.

While studying at the Ottawa University in Kinanthropology, Charles worked with various Gee Gees teams, to eventually become the lead trainer for the men’s basketball team. These athletic experiences led Charles to pursue a path in physiotherapy for which he completed his degree at the University of Dalhousie in Halifax. After university, Charles and his wife Charlotte first moved to the East Coast, then to Sault-Ste-Marie to finally establish themselves in North Bay. Charles stayed in North Bay for 25 years and raised his three children while co-owning a physiotherapy clinic, Gateway Physiotherapy Centre, until February of 2021. When the practice closed, Charles and Charlotte moved back to the Ottawa to be closer to their children and 3 grandchildren, coming full circle, as this is where he met Charlotte, the love of his life, while at University.

Charles is a certified fitness instructor and as a physiotherapist, his focus and passion has always been on treating sports & orthopaedic conditions. He has extensive training in a multitude of post-graduate courses such as: manual therapy, dry needling, Mulligan techniques, shoulder and knee courses, and whiplash to only name a few. Furthermore, Charles is well versed in the McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT) which is an internationally researched and acclaimed system of assessment and management for spinal and extremity musculoskeletal disorders and holds the title of a Certified Mackenzie Therapist.

Charles is very passionate about working with others and focuses on using a manual approach to physical therapy. He also uses dry needling and feels an extensive use of an at home exercise program helps empower his patients. Charles prides himself as being a good listener and empathetic towards others.
